Bracelet Care for Stone, Wood and Cord

Care for the most sensitive component

A mixed-material bracelet is only as water-resistant as its cord, elastic, adhesive, wood finish and metal plating. Even if a stone is durable, prolonged water and chemicals can shorten the life of the finished piece.

Quick answer

Remove the bracelet before showering, swimming, sleeping or strenuous activity. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wear, allow moisture to evaporate fully and store it separately in a dry place.

What should you avoid?

  • Chlorine, salt water and prolonged soaking
  • Perfume, lotion, sanitizer and household cleaners
  • Hard impact, crushing and repeated rubbing against metal objects
  • High heat and prolonged direct sunlight
  • Pulling an elastic bracelet wider than needed

How do you clean it?

Start with a clean, soft and dry cloth. For a durable non-porous surface, a barely damp cloth may be suitable, but do not soak the bracelet and dry it immediately. When material identity or treatment is uncertain, dry cleaning is the safer default.

How should elastic and cord bracelets be removed?

Roll an elastic bracelet gently over the hand instead of pulling one section sharply. For cord or clasp designs, open the closure rather than forcing the bracelet over the hand. Stop wearing a piece if the cord frays, the elastic loosens or a clasp becomes unreliable.

How should it be stored?

Store the bracelet flat or loosely curved in a dry compartment. Keep hard stones and metal hardware from rubbing against watches or other polished jewelry. Wood-dominant bracelets should not be kept in humid bathrooms or sealed while damp.
